Do Security Patrols Replace the NOPD?

April 19, 2024 8:09 AM | Chris Costello (Administrator)

In the April 15th general meeting, NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, fielded a great audience question, "Do security patrols in a Security and Improvement District replace the NOPD?" The answer is a definitive NO. Security patrols serve as a supplement, not a substitute, for NOPD services. Superintendent Kirkpatrick highlighted that patrols in areas like the Mid-City Security District (MCSD) and Lakeview Crime Prevention District (LCPD) consist of officers who volunteer for the role and are compensated at an overtime rate.
