Concept
A large-scale, multi-panel collaborative mural called “Marigny Yesterday & Today Mural”
Local artists/muralists will guide and mentor community member participants.
Artists/muralists will be assigned panels or sections of the wall to create an original artwork that they find representative of specific themes and their interpretation of this concept.
Community participants and volunteer artists will be given instruction and tutorial to participate in this opportunity for neighborhood beautification.
We want mentor artists/participants to experience both collaboration and support, as well as honor their own creative independence.
Outcomes
Create culturally and historically relevant artwork that can inspire young artists and help them grow independently
Create a positive environment for respectful collaboration amongst all age groups.
Create a legacy artwork that is both educational and inspiring.
Create a place to tell stories where visitors will have an enriching, educational understanding of the Marigny and New Orleans through the eyes of the Marigny.
Create a sense of pride and community for what we have collaboratively created.
